Vermont Journalism Conference 2024

Registration is closed. See contacts below

Join journalists across Vermont to discuss the industry’s future in our state at this daylong conference, hosted by the University of Vermont’s Community News Service and Center for Community News. Reporters, editors and leaders will get the space to build connections and strengthen local journalism.

June 28

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grand Maple Ballroom
Davis Center

This year’s conference, the third of its kind, will focus on next steps for news sustainability in Vermont. The event will feature two panels, small group sessions and, of course, lunch.

Hear about a new effort by the Vermont Community Foundation to build a Press Forward chapter in Vermont, as well as updates and discussions on the role of local media in democracy. Panelists will include Dale Anglin, director of Press Forward; Lori Henson, government advertising policy manager at the nonprofit Rebuild Local News coalition; and Duc Luu, director of sustainability initiatives for journalism at the Knight Foundation.

The event is free, but people in the media business get first priority — attendance is limited to about 90. More details will follow for those who register. Feel free to reach out to lead organizers Meg Little Reilly and Scott Finn at meg.little-reilly@uvm.edu or radiofinn@gmail.com.
